They say that methodology is nothing more than applied philosophy. All the core values of an Artios Education are put into practical application through the logistics, choices, materials, exercises, and options, are found within the Artios Home Companion Series.

Unit Overview Page

At the beginning of each unit you will find a unit overview page. This page is for the teacher/parent that is guiding the student through the curriculum. On this page, you will find several main headings:

  • Historical Topic Overview
    • History is the spine through which all other subjects are integrated. It is important for the teacher/parent to have at least a broad understanding of the historical topic so he/she can guide the student through the remaning subjects.
  • Assignments and Activities
    • The Assignments and activities are broken up by lesson. Each lesson contains reading and a corresponding assignment. While these assignments are great and will work great with the majority of students, we encourage all teachers and parents to throw the assignments out the window if they don’t fit your student. There is no perfect textbook, and you as the teacher/parent not your student better than we do, so we encourage you to supplement/replace our assignments with your own assignments to best fit the learning style of your student. We also encourage you to share your own assignment ideas in the comment section of each unit.
  • Key People and Events
    • Every historical time period and topic contains key people and events that shaped the course of history. We have listed the most Key people and Events in the unit overview.
  • Leading Ideas
    • Every unit is unique in that they all contain the opportunity to teach certain scriptural principles (leading ideas) to your student. When we can connect what the students are learning in their course work back to scripture, it allows students to see the Truth of scripture.
  • Vocabulary
    • All of the vocabulary words come from the reading that is in a specific unit. This allows students to not only grasp the  meaning of a word, but they learn the meaning in the context of what they are already learning. The words are no longer a stratified material, but an integral part of understanding the topic.
