Unit Description

The Russian Revolution, and the new government that followed proved to be far more oppressive to the people than the one that had been overthrown. The rise and expansion of communism brought fear to democratic nations. This led to a nationwide manhunt for individuals suspected of holding undemocratic views. By the beginning of the 1920’s, after World War I and the Red Scare, America was ready to return to its earlier policy of isolationism. World War I had ended, industry flourished, and people wanted to celebrate. This resulted in what is now known as the “Roaring Twenties.”
