Unit Description
As the war dragged on through battle after battle including the famous battle between the Merrimack and the Monitor, it became evident that stronger leadership was needed for both armies and that some statement must be made by the president to force the issues with the South. This came in the form of Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.
